Paestum Smart
Where time
stands still...
...technology
bows
«Paestum, ubi prima Graeciae gloria» — this is how the ancients celebrated it.
Among the Doric columns that defy the millennia, amid stones that hold the breath of ancient civilizations, we laid our hands with reverence upon this eternal place. The smart benches installed here are not mere furnishings but silent sentinels — able to safeguard, connect and welcome the visitor, without taking anything away from the majesty of this place.
An integrated CCTV system, with discreetly profiled structures designed to blend into the scene and exist solely at the service of the public. The wiring runs beneath the ancient ground, hidden from view, laid through hand excavation in absolute respect for every layer of history preserved within this soil.
Technology and beauty, present and past:
not a contrast, but a synergy.
The Archaeological Park of Paestum cradles one of the most extraordinary legacies that antiquity has handed down to mankind. Protecting this heritage was not simply about installing cameras: it meant listening to the spirit of the place, understanding its sensitivity, and responding with a solution worthy of its history.
Thus was born Paestum Smart, an advanced video surveillance system, conceived not as a foreign body but as a discreet and aware presence. A fully customised communication network made it possible to overcome the inherent complexities of such a unique site — where every intervention is an act of responsibility, and every aesthetic choice becomes a dialogue with the thousand-year-old stone.
At the very heart of the project, the smart island: a refined technological hub, able to integrate surveillance, connectivity and visitor services within a single, harmonious architecture. Its design does not shout its presence but whispers it, blending into the landscape with natural ease.
Designing it required that rare ability to reconcile seemingly incompatible needs: high performance, operational continuity, minimal visual impact.
The result is a system that does not disturb, but protects,
that does not impose, but serves with the same silent dignity
that this eternal place deserves.
Technology... the kind we are used to
often invades. It is seen. It imposes. It disturbs.
Not here.
And those who arrive...
are not looking for technology.
They find...well-being.
Forms follow nature.
There are no sharp edges.
Like stones polished by water.
Like tree trunks...grown over time.
